The Love of God

Today is Monday, my second week back to school with students.  I am 67 years old and worked 60 hours last week.  I hosted people in my home, served 4-5 year olds at church, spent more time than ever in the Word getting to know my Lord better, exercised, kept up with the housework, and stole away one morning before work to see a sunrise at the lake!

I am blessed, and I don’t take that for granted. According to Ephesians 1, we who are the faithful in Christ are blessed with every spiritual blessing.  Often those blessings flow over into the natural, but even if they did not. I am blessed because I know the love of God. This love gives me strength to do what looks impossible, and courage to face the hard stuff life throws at us. It’s glorious and supernatural and marvelous and wonderful! And I feel I have barely touched all that is available to me!

If only people knew how wonderful this great love is, they would never turn away from it! But the father of lies has deceived the hearts of many and kept a majority of those who do know Him from experiencing all He has for them.  Dispelling the lies is a new objective for me.  Probably the primary one society faces is that God’s love is selective or conditional.  God loves us with an everlasting love just as we are.  It’s His will that all would come to the knowledge of Him and that we experience all the love that He is.

I hope to over the next several writings to expound upon this. One of the big rocks in my Christian walk is the following scripture. It held me when I was at my lowest, even in the season when I walked away from Him; His love was always there.

Romans 8:38, 39

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today or our worries about tomorrow-not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.

No powers in the sky above or in the earth below-indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
